Printmakers Creating Work with a Social Message
Talented printmakers from western Massachusetts and beyond answered our call for politically-leaning art. With artist and printmaker B.Z. Reily, we curated the work of twenty-seven artists expressing themselves through their art on a variety of current social and political issues, in a range of printmaking techniques, including: intaglio, relief, screen prints, letterpress, monotype, collagraph, and mixed media.
The work in this powerful show addresses such topics as climate change, the environment, gun control, gender issues, immigration, reproductive health, political figures, feminism, and more. I was very proud to have my print "Commander In Tweet" apart of this exhibition.

Etched & Carved Show @ 13 Forest Gallery
13FOREST Gallery is pleased to present Etched & Carved, an exhibition of four printmakers, in conjunction with the Boston Printmakers 2017 North American Print Biennial.
Etched & Carved introduces four new artists to 13FOREST Gallery, all printmakers who demonstrate the wide variety of visual styles that can be achieved with printmaking. This exhibition is timed to coincide with the Boston Printmakers 2017 North American Print Biennial, opening nearby at The Lunder Arts Center at Lesley University College of Arts and Design in Cambridge on Saturday, January 27. The Boston Printmakers is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence and innovation in the field of printmaking, as well as encouraging public understanding and support for this unique art form. From the fine shading and delicate lines created by etching, to the bold, graphic shapes created through woodblock printing, Etched & Carved celebrates the process and aesthetic of printed art.

n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk. -John Koenig, The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
NEW ENGLAND ON PAPER: Contemporary Art In The Boston Athenaeum's Prints & Photographs Collection
Extremely proud to have two of my monotype prints chosen for the "New England On Paper" exhibition at the BOSTON ATHENEUM! Reception will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 - 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The show runs through September.
This exciting exhibition will showcase contemporary prints, drawings, and photographs by New England artists. The works on display—drawings, watercolors, linocuts, lithographs, hand-toned silver gelatin prints, digital photographs, and more—will reflect artistic interpretations of New England’s built and natural environment.
The Unity of Opposites Exhibition
A visual riff on the childhood game "Telephone," the exhibition of 75 hand-pulled prints exposes real world issues about communication and interpretation in our contemporary culture.
Zea Mays Printmaking invited Peregrine Press (Portland, ME) to collaborate with us on an interesting exhibition concept. Two artists were given a verbal prompt and told to make a print based on their interpretation of the prompt. Their prints were shown to four different artists who responded by making their own, new images. Then the four new pieces were shown to eight more artists, who created a new interpretation. This continued until 75 artists created printed works which include prints, sculpture and artists' books. When the show opens on October 4th, the original prompt will be revealed and gallery visitors will be able to trace the evolution of one thought through seventy five interpretations.
At that point, we'll also move the exhibition into the digital realm of Instagram and invite anyone to respond to any of the works of art by creating their own interpretation and posting it to our Instagram hashtag #telephoneexhibit. The physical exhibition will travel to the Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art in February at which time the Instagram feed will be exhibited along with the physical prints.
